This book was a great help for me to show others, how simple or complex projects made from concrete, are NOT as "hard or scary" as they previously believed. To see them " get it" simply by looking through and ultimately reading this book cover to cover as it was not at all intimidating. Considering that they wanted to know when we could start. I was also amazed at how many creative ideas came to them as they were still reading this excellent book. I highly recommend this book for those who feel these types of projects require an artist or concrete expert. Nicely done !!!

I have been wanting to comp!ete an outdoor visual garden with concrete and greenery for a church in my neighborhood. My group watched a few videos yet the details for successful molding wasn't really there.This book was just right for a novice. The first few chapters explained the basic about the type of concrete, coloring, tools, the molds and foams.The only thing not covered was how to seal the concrete.It didn't take away from the book. The instructions came with great pictures...!!!!Definite worth a read. The best part is the book is inspiring to mold other projects in concrete!!!

I have purchased a couple of other books from the pen of Ben Ohmart within the last several years and so when I first learned that a book about Mel Blanc was on the horizon I couldn't wait until it's release.Throughout the book there is commentary from Mel's son, Noel, taken from an unpublished biography that Noel wrote about his father. Noel's words appear in bold print. There is considerable detail written about Mel's near fatal car accident in 1961, the impact Bugs Bunny made in reviving him from a coma, and the long road to recovery that lay ahead in a full body cast. You'll see pictures of Mel during that time period and read about all the effort made by the various cartoon studios to turn his hospital room, and later, his home, into a temporary recording studio.Ohmart's book features many, many, MANY facts about a man who became one of the most busiest actors in radio, cartoons, and records...and later added television appearances to his long list of credits.Speaking of credits...this book gives a detailed account on everything that Mel Blanc took part in from the early days of his career through his final projects in 1989. It's truly a fabulous, unique, and addictive kind of book for those who are not only fans of Mel Blanc but of classic animated cartoons in general, whether theatrically released or made-for-TV. You get a cartoon-by-cartoon snapshot detailing Mel's involvement in the project, however major or minor it might've been; plus, you get a complete overview of his recording career and the comedy records that were released on him and the numerous radio programs that he either guest starred in or had recurring characters in. An entire separate book could've easily been published to examine these credits but they've all been collected and presented within this one book.The book is also filled with quotes and remembrances by a long list of celebrities in an out of animation that Mel worked with or were inspired by. Mel's friendship with Jack Benny is explored in more detail in this book, too. The book is lengthy but this shouldn't be a surprise for an actor of Mel's considerable longevity. Before hitting national radio in the late '30s, right around the time he was just starting his decades long run with Warner Brothers cartoons, Mel was a feature on local radio for a period of years in Oregon. In addition to the written word there are plenty of pictures throughout. Some of the images, I assume, are exclusive to the book as I hadn't seen quite a few of them until now.Practically all facets of the entertainment industry that existed from the 1920's through the late 1980's, Mel Blanc at some point played a part in. Though his lasting legacy is the theatrical cartoons he did for Warner Brothers, his voice was heard on the radio, on records, and on television for decades. His voice is still being heard...repeats of "The Flintstones" and "The Jetsons", for example, continue to air to this day on Boomerang. Mel played the roles of Barney Rubble and Dino on "The Flintstones" and Mr. Spacely on "The Jetsons". In each series he also provided voices for incidental characters, too, in addition to his main roles.Everything about the book's presentation is great and the details are extraordinary.

As the voice of Bugs Bunny Daffy Duck Porky Pig Yosemite Sam The Roadrunner Marvin the Martian Tweety and Sylester and later Elmer Fudd not to mention Woody Woodpecker-especially the laugh- and on the Flintstones Dino and Barney Rubble -not to mention other stuff I cant name off for one reason or another Mel Blanc has richly become the man of 1000 voices as his nickname goes and hes richly deserved it. He also sang songs and while some of them were with his cartoon voices others were with other made up voices and occoinally he sang with his real voice. This is his biography and its an iteresting read especially since it covers his career as well as his life. You should get it.

My grandson wanted the Mel Blanc book for his thirteenth Birthday. When he visits, he reads me a chapter. I will be 80 in July but did not know who Mel Blanc was. He has taught me so much.

I loved everything about this book, it was both inspiring, and informative, so many great things to learn from this book, 100% recommend this book!

More than half of this thick, expensive soft-cover book is simply a listing of credits. Every radio show, every cartoon, just names, dates and plots. Ho-hum. Even the biggest fan would be bored with this filler. And talk about TMI...do we really need the names of the cops who showed up at Blanc's auto accident?! The few photos are very badly reproduced, much worse than in a newspaper. They're faint and washed-out, with streaks. Mr. Blanc's fascinating story deserved a much better book, such as his own "That's Not All, Folks!" As for the audiobook, I wonder if the narrator read all those credits? It would take hours and hours.

Those who know something about Sister Thea Bowman might recall her as an African-American nun in the mid-century U.S. who used her charismatic personality and musical talent to evangelize, uplift, and educate her people. This well documented biography details that history in depth, from her teaching days and scholarly work through the civil rights era and on to efforts to promote and organize black Catholics, encouraging them to share their particular gifts within the church. We come to know Thea as a joyous and tireless person who learned to express herself and her culture for the enrichment of all, even as cancer ravaged her body and led to her premature death. It is therefore a bit strange that she is not widely known even in Catholic circles although she preached (or perhaps, in the best sense of the word, "performed") throughout the U.S., Europe, and Africa. This book seeks to remedy that void and does so in such detail that it sometimes becomes just a listing of her many appearances, workshops, conferences. However, one cannot help but admire and be amazed by this dedicated and genuinely engaging personality who has now been proposed for canonization.

I really wanted to like this book; I have been strongly affected by Sr. Thea Bowman's charism. However, the book has too much editorializing. The author tends to inject herself in too many asides and parenthetical statements. However, the weakest point was the focus on Sr. Thea's celebrity status. Instead of focusing on who Sr. Thea was and what she did, the focus was placed on her connections with Harry Belafonte and Whoopi Goldberg. It seemed more pride was taken in these Hollywood connections than in the person of Sr. Thea. Likewise her segment on "60 Minutes" was exploited throughout the last third of the book several times.However, to be honest, as bad as the second half was, it is the best book on Sr. Thea that I have read (my third). Someday someone will tell the story right.

Sister Thea was a remarkable woman and this book makes that abundantly clear. An inspiring read!

This book is a blessing. I have been studying Sr. Thea for awhile and this is a wonderful book to add to your library.

Thea Bowman was a remarkable woman, so I really enjoyed reading about her life. However I thought the book was somewhat repetitious and could have been better written.

The reason I gave this a higher rating than volume one is because it is a perfect sequel to volume one in regards to the story's continuity. Other than that it is a good read with plot twists and cliff hangers that keep you reading. After reading this volume I can say that I am officially hooked and will keep reading to the end. However, do not read this unless you have read volume one as the story will make less sense.

The first volume of "The Flash" was ok. Didn't really get into it until later on when the Flash takes on Captain Cold. That's where it got really interesting. I enjoyed it and that's really what carried the book for me. That's the stuff I really wanted to read about. Then I found out about "The Flash. Vol. 2 Rouges Revolution." I wanted it. I got it, and read it. Was not disappointed. I saw a bunch of super power action and I also got to see Gorilla Grood. Which was neat. I was never a huge fan of the flash but this book really changed that. I look forward to reading more about the Flash

I love the Flash and I've enjoyed the series so far and look forward to finish the New 52 soon. It is good to learn more of his galley of villains with beautiful artwork. There is a lot going on but I was able to keep up as I continue to read and I hope others will enjoy it as well. I hope to see more animated work with Flash in it such as shows or movies (I like DC more in the animated world than live-action).

SPOILER: I was hoping to get some resolution for plots left open in volume 1. Not so much. This isn't a bad read, but some plots remain to be unresolved and the constant time jumps made this a little confusing to follow the story.

Just what my son wanted and it has multiple issues so well worth the price!

I think Flash Vol. 1 should be read first before reading this volume, otherwise it will be confusing. However, despite that motivations are unbelievable to me as to why the combatants are involved in struggling against each other, it is fun.

The rogues are back, though slightly altered. They're woven into the other subplots well enough, and some of the new facets of this Flash run are finally explained. There's also a bit of an origin story, though it seems odd that it's in Vol. 2.

This comic is exactly what I wanted and gotten!
