I fell in love with Jami Amerine through her blog on Facebook. She connects with you in such a real and transparent way you almost feel as though you are hanging out on her couch with your feet on her coffee table. Her stories and insight have made me laugh, cry, reflect and hit my knees. That being said, it was truly such a pleasure to be able to read about journey that so many of us travel yet haven't had the words to pour out. With every chapter and with every Jesus illustrated, it seemed I had a moment of connection and validation. I now know I am not the only one who has sat and scratched my head in wonder. It made me think of all the Jesus' I could add to the list and how they have changed my messy walk. Santa Jesus, Mexican Jesus, Scary Catholic Jesus, Assemblies of God Jesus, etc. Such a beautiful way to explain this amazing relationship that we share. I'm going to read again because there are so many goodies in this book! "I received this Advance Reader Copy from the publisher."

This book had me hooked from the title. It is both a fast read and a deep, contemplative, chew-on-it, wrestle-with-it book. I read it in just a few days, yet parts of it remained with me, and I am still pondering how it impacts my theology. I, too, have created some fictional Jesuses, as I believe we all have. Which ones is dependent on the lens through which we view the world. Goodbye Idol Jesus and Americanized Jesus. My prayer is to seek The Real Jesus and to be in relationship with Him! I received an ARC from the publisher.

Jami is honest about her struggles, and at times, I feel like she's been peeking through my windows when she admits to being in bondage to donuts and feels that Jesus is judging her because of her failings.Each misstep puts her further and further away from Jesus, or she thinks, until she realizes she doesn't really know Jesus.Ladies and gentlemen: I am afraid that is the case for many of us, too. We either don't know Him as Lord and Savior, or we have been saved, and we are relating to a Savior who is not the real Jesus. What we so often don't need is another lofty ivory tower writer to tell us how we can become perfect. We also don't need more faulty representations of who Jesus is: judgmental, irritable, weary of us, distant.Read Jami Amerine's book. You will laugh. You will relate. You will feel at home as with a friend, and you be challenged to meet Jesus, the Real Jesus. Okay, I don't have a blog, I don't stand in front of huge gatherings to discuss theology (introverts don't volunteer for that life path) but if I could stand in front of huge gatherings or if I had a blog, I would not hesitate to shout "I am in love with this book!!!!" My life parallels so much. This is a wonderful refreshing seeking the real Jesus read and I'm so happy that I took the plunge and read it. I was laughing through so much that I could relate to and "get". My virtual hug to Jami Amerine is large because this is what I needed to read (you don't realize how much).Being a cradle Catholic and a questioning Catholic, backing away from the idol and such, it's so very helpful to hear another person describe what is so hard for me to describe without stuttering and mumbling til I'm just standing there saying nothing.I see so many people I know and so much of my world in these chapters. It makes me want to just build a front porch so I can rock and chat quietly with Jesus.You're book isn't striving to change people into Stepford wife Christian mandated cliques "a la high school", it's just the journey of finding the real Jesus, I like it and thank you!!

"Stolen Jesus" is heartfelt and funny. Jami addresses so many of the thoughts I've had during a lifetime of hearing Christian-ese, misapplied Scripture, and rules/plans to add to my salvation. But more importantly -- she clarifies, over and over, God's viewpoint of us. She explains and emphasizes grace; she encourages and empathizes.I'm going to have many quotes written down from this book scattered around my environment as reminders. I'm going to pass along copies of the book to friends, family, and counseling clients. And I'm going to eagerly await the publication of Jami's next book.

I was blessed with an early reader copy of Stolen Jesus.When I first heard about Jami's book, I had to wonder ... Stolen Jesus, have we really stolen Jesus? We haven't, and don't let the title throw you off. We have, however, let other representations of Jesus steal from us. And this is the wonderful message of this book. Meeting the real Jesus, the Jesus of the Bible, can be scary, but it can also be messy, funny and crazy. Jami uses her wonderful humor to tell her story of how she found the Jesus of grace, and helped me do the same. This book showed up at a busy and messy time in my life, and I am grateful Jami listened to the prompting of God and wrote this book as it really has been a God send to me.This book helped me realize that I have tried to define Jesus and God on my terms, not on theirs. It reminded me that I am not the only one go to through "stuff" and that there is hope on the other end of the valley. I am definitely going to read this book again, as I am sure there are things I missed the first time that will be brought to light.
